Ball Mark Solutions for Superintendents
Superintendents Recommend the GreenFix System
As a golf course superintendent for over 30 years, I have seen and heard many claims of salesmen and their products that will make my job easier. As you might expect many if not most of these claims fell far short of their target. I am writing to you about one system that not only delivers on its promise but has my members excited about it as well.
The system to which I refer is Danny Edwards’ Green Fix Ballmark Elimination Program. Whether we like it or not all golf courses are measured by their conditioning and certainly the condition of their putting surfaces. Briarwood Country Club is no different and our members take a lot of pride in our great greens. When Danny introduced his system to Briarwood many of the members were skeptical at first. However in less than one month the members have seen dramatic results and have wholeheartedly taken on the challenger to improve our greens.
Our Bermudagrass putting greens are overseeded each winter and this year many members felt they were the best conditioned they had seen in recent memory. After the Green Fix System was installed our members began to make a game out of fixing ballmarks and our greens are virtually ballmark free. One of our more demanding members stopped to tell me that our greens are now superior to many Bentgrass greens that he has putted on. His comments came after the Green Fix Program was in place for six weeks and obviously noticed the improvement.
With most of our members joining in the cause to repair ballmarks, my staff spends less time fixing ballmarks and we also have been able to reduce fertilizer applications needed to keep our greens growing to aid in ballmark recovery. Therefore our greens are healthier, smoother and more enjoyable to our members, which is something that all superintendents strive for.
